What is BETA?
TECHNICAL DEFINITION
“Beta” is a term used commonly today for software, program or service. A beta version is the first version released outside the organization or community that develops the software, for the purpose of evaluation or real-world black-box testing. Some developers refer to this stage as a preview, a prototype, a technical preview (TP) or as an early access.
MY USAGE: IN SEARCH OF EXCELLENCE
OK. Enough of Geek talks. By Beta I mean that the blog that you see is under development. I am and will be experimenting with it every now and then. It will be available for reading and all the posts and pages will be there for use. But there may be trial and error with respect to look, feel, complexity, features, widgets, maybe sidebar and any and every thing on the blog.
All my energy, while doing this, will be directed towards improvement of the blog in various respects, reader experience being at the top of the list. Others may include usefulness, increase of interaction, etc.
So whatever you see today is Beta, and it may change tomorrow – for better obviously. And the same goes for tomorrow…
‘BETA’ IN ONE LINE:
The way for a young man to rise is to improve himself in every way he can, never suspecting that anybody wishes to hinder him.
- Abraham Lincoln.
Commit to CANI! — Constant And Never-ending IMPROVEMENT
- Anthony Robbins
KAIZEN:
Yes, my usage of Beta can be pronounced as Kaizen - which in Japanese means Continuous improvement. Kaizen has a whole philosophy and history behind it. I will write more about it for those unfamiliar with it.
It is fine if you DON’T’NOTE: If I am using the term Beta at the wrong place, please understand that my interpretation of the term is as explained above. Still, tell me what you think and we may together improve upon the usage of the word.
