Life’s Good - A Winter’s day poem
June 14, 2007 by Pareen
A winter’s day-
Spring it could be called
I am not alone, some emotions in the mirror show
Gazing from my window to the streets below
On a freshly fallen silent shroud of snow
Made me feel more human…
Walls that I built around, fortress that existed I thought
Could not stop
The friendship and its hope
Yes it causes pain, but without friends all’s in vain
It’s the laughter and love that make the blood
The life that flows through each vein
But I pretend to be a rock, and island be my name…
Don’t talk of love, but I’ve heard the word before
Its sleeping, yet not dead
It made me cry, and made me sad
But its touch that I had dreamt of
Still catches me in bed
My fear keeps me awake, bad memories disturb
And so I pretend to be a rock, but the hope isn’t all lost…
I hide behind my books, and my frustration flows through my poetry
I am shielded in my pretense
Hiding the emotions,
The dreams of happiness don’t touch me, and I dare not touch them too…
I try to be a rock, and even an island
But every time I do, I feel more humane!!!
I would dedicate this set of words to Anindita, whose Orkut profile had a poem which inspired me to write this. (Lyrics of a song by Simon And Garfunkel called I Am A Rock served as a base for me to write this)
This poem is dedicated to Love, friendship and all the other beautiful things in life.
This poem is for all the times when we feel lonely and low.
This poem is for hope - a hope for a true friend, true love and relationships that last forever.
This poem is for the beauty of a feeling and relationship that we ultimately choose in spite of the pain and struggle that it brings along.
I had written a post on I am a Rock a few days ago - I am a Rock - Love, Friendship and Loneliness. This post can be seen as a sequel to that.
